FAQ
Common questions about signup, billing, logging trips, and offline PDF export. For a full walkthrough with simulated screens, see How to use the app.
Is there an iPhone or Android app?
The iPhone app is available on the App Store, and the Android app is in final testing on Google Play. You can also use Smart Driver Log in any browser at smartdriverlog.com. One subscription covers all of them, and your trips sync between devices.
How do I sign up / start the free trial?
Open Sign up, create an account with your email and password, then choose monthly or yearly. You'll complete checkout with Stripe to start a 7-day free trial. A payment method is required so billing can continue after the trial if you keep the plan.
What happens after the 7-day trial?
If you don't cancel, Stripe charges your chosen plan— $7.99/mo or $49/yr—and your subscription becomes active. You keep access to trip logging, planning, and exports.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Sign in, open Billing, then use Manage subscription to open the Stripe customer portal. There you can cancel, switch plans, or update your payment method. If you subscribed inside the mobile app instead, cancel where you bought it: iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on iPhone or iPad, Google Play → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
How do I log a trip on my phone?
After signing in, open the app home. Choose or search your departure place, tap to start, then record arrival with place, times, whole-mile odometer readings, and a trip reason (required for a typical Texas-style log). Saved locations can remember a default reason; change it on arrive for one-off trips. Manage reasons under Account → Manage reasons.
What are saved locations for?
Under Manage locations, you can save places you use often (home, work, clients). They show up when logging trips and planning routes so you don't retype addresses every time.
How do I export a PDF of my log?
On your phone or tablet, open View Logs, then tap Export PDF (also available from the account menu). The PDF opens right on the device, so you can show it or hand it over when a court, employer, or officer asks. You can also export CSV for your own records.
How does offline use work?
While online, open View Logs once and wait until you see a “Synced …” time. That saves a local copy on that device. Later, even without internet, open the installed app → View Logs → Export PDF. Do this sync on whichever phone or tablet you plan to carry with you.
Can I enter trips while offline?
Not yet. Offline mode is for viewing the last synced log and exporting PDF/CSV. Log new trips when you have a connection.
Who is Smart Driver Log for?
Anyone who needs a clear occupational or restricted-license driving log—including Texas ODL and similar programs in other states. See Occupational driving log for more background.
