Privacy

What we store

• Account: your email address and password (passwords are hashed — we never see them).
• Trips and places: the departures, arrivals, times, odometer readings, trip reasons, saved locations, and optional display name you enter.
• Billing: your subscription status and the customer identifiers needed to manage your plan. Card numbers are handled by the payment processor and never reach our servers.

How we use your location

The mobile app asks for location permission only to make place search useful. When you search for a place, your approximate coordinates are sent with that search so nearby results come back first — otherwise typing “Waffle House” would return matches from across the country. Location is also used to sort your saved places by distance.

We do not track your driving and we do not store a location history. Coordinates are used for the search you requested and are not saved to your account. The only location data we keep is the places you deliberately choose or save. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; place search still works, you just have to type more of the address.

Services that process your data

• Supabase — hosts the database and handles sign-in. Your account and trip data live here.
• Google Maps Platform — receives place searches and route lookups so we can suggest addresses and estimate drive time and distance.
• Stripe — processes web payments and stores payment details. On iPhone and Android, purchases go through Apple or Google instead, with RevenueCat relaying subscription status to us.
• Vercel — hosts the website and API.
• Loops — sends account and subscription emails (receives your email address only).

Each service handles data under its own privacy policy. We share only what a service needs to perform its function.

How long we keep it

Your trips stay in your account until you delete them or close your account, because an occupational log is often needed months later. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your trips, saved places, and profile. Billing records may be retained where tax or accounting rules require it.

Your choices

You can export your full log as PDF or CSV at any time from View Logs, edit or delete individual trips, and turn off location permission on your device. To delete your account and everything in it, email [email protected] or use the Contact page. We action deletion requests within 30 days.

Children

Smart Driver Log is intended for licensed drivers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
